151 Front Street is home to more than 150 telecommunications companies and is one of North America's most connected buildings with 9 unique fibre-optic networks, 25 diverse entrances, and more than 7,000 strands of fibre.

From Dots and Dashes to Fiber Optic Cable

1954  
151 Front Street has had a long history in the communications industry, beginning with its custom construction in 1954 to house telegraph equipment.
 
   
1968  
Due to overwhelming demand for emerging technologies, an additional two floors were added to the building.
 
   



1989  
As deregulation increased the number of competitors in the telecommunications market between 1989 and 1997, the Building continued its evolution in communications as fiber providers and users gravitated together in order to take advantage of the Building's connectivity to diverse networks  



1997  
In 1997, TrizecHahn purchased the Building as part of its lease of the CN Tower and recognized the inherent value in the growing number of telecommunications tenants.  



2000  
TrizecHahn completed the conversion of 151 Front into a facility for leading edge telecommunications tenants by upgrading the Building's power, cooling and security.  



2001  
By year-end 2001, 98% of 151 Front Street is conditioned for telecommunications tenants.  



2004  
Northam Realty Advisors purchases the building.
